Finally Found a Place

It's so freakin' expensive to find a place here in SG. Thanks to Filipino couple Ryan and Michelle Acompanado for helping us find a good space. We finally found a room somewhere in Toa Payoh, sharing a unit with 4 other Filipinos. We got it for 425SGD (around 14K pesos) per head! I should stop converting by now to avoid stress. haha!

HOPIA TINAMBACAN in SG (the beginning)
#MaoNaNi

Good day everyone! Here's my first VLOG to document my journey in Singapore as a student at Intercultural Theater Institute. By the way, the program is called Professional Diploma in Intercultural Theater (Acting) and it is for 3 years. Thanks to those who showed support in many different ways.

If you have followed my work and advocacies, whether through theater or music or literature, you would have noticed that it has always been my vision to help raise the status of the culture and arts in the community. This has always been my driving force, and it is from this same urgency that I am now applying for a Professional Diploma in Intercultural Theater (with a concentration on acting) at the Interculutural Theater Institute (ITI) here in Singapore.

The dramatic arts program of ITI, as well as its prestige, will certainly equip me with the necessary training and experience that will be very helpful in my pursuit of professional theater, which I have seen in the works of ITI's Filipino graduates.

I am known to many as a senior member and young mentor of Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts or YATTA, and the knowledge and skills I will learn from ITI will certainly ripple through the communities that YATTA is serving, and will continue to serve. YATTA has taught me that theater is not only an art form but also a way of life. We are dedicated to helping young people discover and utilize their full potentials as community leaders through the different art forms, and my further studies with ITI will help in that regard.

Considering, however, my current financial status as a freelance artist, I know for certain that studying abroad will be very difficult, and my personal savings will not be enough to sustain myself through the entire three-year duration of the program. I have committed myself to community theater and cultural and development work for almost 10 years now. I also do not come from a very well-off family. My parents are both church workers and community leaders who have dedicated their lives to serving the poor people, and it is from them where I got the passion for community service. My parents, who were prime movers in the establishment of a foundation in Misamis Occidental called Mission for Indigeneous and Self-reliant People's Assistance (MISPA), have exposed me to the realities in our society and this is what inspired me to dedicate my life to development work.

But I am humbled and honored to have so many friends and family to support me. You have all come through for me and my advocacies so many times in the past, for which I am grateful. Another road has opened up, and I am coming to you all once more to ask for your support. I will be forever grateful for your help. If  you feel moved to help me with this, please email me at e.hopetinambacan@gmail.com. MY bank details are as follows:

Earnest Hope Tinambacan. Account no. 1089-3215-96 Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Dumaguete city, Perdices branch

I will be keeping you - as well as my friends, family, and supporters - updated on the progress of my studies through this blog [www.hopiatinambacan.blogspot.com] that I mean to use as a documentation and chronicle for this grand new adventure, which I hope you can take with me.

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Our first few days in SG

I'm wondering why wala ni maapil sa video na akong gihimo. Perhaps I accidentally removed it after rearranging the photos. Anyway, SHOUT TO MOTHER AND BROTHER! To my papa who's now in heaven, kisses from earth to the world beyond! Love lots!
